We put together the features that we desired in a vehicle (color, interior, various packages, sound, and warranty) and learned about the real cost the dealer pays for the vehicle and then offered a few hundred dollars over that amount (which was tremendously cheaper than any local dealers would settle for). Then our bid was posted and a dealer (sometimes a fleet dealer) in a nearby town accepted the offer (often within a few hours).
